Michael Glenn Dean, affectionately called Mickey all his life, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2020 in Walker Baptist Hospital from complications of Covid-19 Born August 30, 1946, in Birmingham at the old West End Hospital, now Princeton, Mickey was raised and educated in Hueytown. He was a graduate of Hueytown High School Class of 1964. As a youth he participated in the usual school and community sports, but his true passion was born during a 6th grade stage production while playing the part of a shipwrecked pirate. Over the years he never forgot his lines. He worked hard and well, eventually owning a steel tank construction business in Birmingham. Mid-life, however, the stage beckoned him into the comedy entertainment profession. As his career grew, he was often invited as a motivational speaker at high school assemblies, youth group meetings, church banquets, team devotions, and corporate events. His timely and sage advice on becoming the best at whatever you do in this life was always offered with a good dose of old fashioned sensible humor. His love for Jesus Christ, God's Word, and the people of God was important to him in recent years. He was embraced as a member of Dora Church of God. He loved living in Walker County, inspired by the self-reliant, "can do – get it done" trait of its people. Their kindness in recent months gave him a great measure of happiness. The family especially thanks our dear friend, Donna Williams, who was steadfast in ensuring us he was cared for well. He was the proud father of two wonderful sons, Scott and Mac, who gave him gave three talented and beautiful grand-daughters and two delightful and athletic grandsons. Scott and wife, Helen, are parents of Hannah and Millie. Mac and wife, Pandi are parents of Coleigh Ann, Parker, and Walker. He will be greatly missed by his sister, Cheryl and husband Bob. Uncle Mickey will be remembered fondly by nephew and niece, Bobby and Libby, and great-nephews, Dillan and Cameron. He was blessed with a loving family, faithful friends, and countless laughing fans. Visitation will be Monday, August 31, from 11 am to 3 pm. Service at 3 pm will be officiated by his friend, Rick Burgess and his pastor, Lewis Smith. The family has requested a private burial. Arrangements by Valhalla Funeral Home, 5317 Bessemer Super Highway, Midfield, AL.
