Edward H. "Buddy" Lynch, 90, of Stuttgart passed away Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2020, at Lonoke Health and Rehab.
Buddy was born Oct. 10, 1929, in Stuttgart to James W. Lynch and Fannie Beatrice Dunn Lynch. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and retired after 47 years with the Stuttgart Fire Department, serving the last 31 years as Fire Chief. The Stuttgart Fire Substation-North was named "The Edward "Buddy" Lynch Fire Station". He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Many of Buddy's service and honors over the years included Chairman of the State Fire Protection Committee, Distinguished Boss of the Year, appointed Outstanding Leader of the National Community Volunteer Fire Prevention Program by then-Gov. Bill Clinton, awarded the Meritorious Civic Service Award for the Betterment of the Community by then-Mayor Clark Smith, Outstanding Services by the Federal and State Emergency Management Agency, served on the Advisory Board of the Southern Arkansas University Fire Academy, appointed to the Arkansas State Fire Extinguisher Licensing Board by then-Gov. Bill Clinton and then reappointed by the-Gov. Jim Guy Tucker, served on the Arkansas Association of Fire Chiefs as President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer and Board of Trustees and received Arkansas Firefighters Hall of Fame Award.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Nadine Ellen Stokes Lynch; his older brother, Jim Lynch; and a twin sister, Edna Elliott.
Survivors are his son, Randall Stokes Lynch and wife Victoria Sue of Little Rock; his daughter, Pamela K. Lynch Harrison and husband Richard of Navarre, Fla.; three granddaughters, Kimberly Harrison Bye and husband Daniel, Jessica Lynch and Briana Lynch; and two great-grandchildren, Caden Daniel Bye and Blakely Chase Bye.
He was laid to rest next to his wife in Lone Tree Cemetery. Due to Covid 19 restrictions and inclement weather due to Hurricane Laura, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
