Norman J. Thornton, 77, of Pennington passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, surrounded by his family.

Born in Pennington, Norman was a lifelong area resident. He was a graduate of the Pennington High School- class of 1957. He was a receiver at the Pennington Quality Market for many years. Norman was a Marine Corps veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 339. He was a member of the Pennington United Methodist Church.

Norman was the son of the late John S. and Anna Burd Thornton, and brother of the late Dorothy M. Jaeger and her late husband, Merle. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Frisbie Thornton; his daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and Michael Cronce of Lawrenceville, NJ; his son, Dwayne Thornton of Pennington; two grandchildren, Shannon and Dillon Cronce; two nephews, Keith and Edmund Jaeger; and many cousins, including Ruth and Charles O'Neill.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 11 a.m. at the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, 2560 Pennington Rd., Pennington with the Rev. Daniel B. Casselberry, pastor of the Pennington United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Titusville Methodist Cemetery.
