He was born June 27, 1945 in Shippensburg, PA. Dan was a son of the late Bruce R. "Cider" and Evelyn Etta (Koontz) Burns.
He retired from the Letterkenny Army Depot. Dan was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a life member of the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168 and a member of the Minnequa Social Club both in Shippensburg.
Dan is survived by one daughter, Nicole D. (Tony) Rotz and one granddaughter, Kalea J. Rotz all of Shippensburg, two brothers, Jimmy R. (Bonita) Koontz of Newville and Robert R. Burns of Naples, FL, one sister, Betsy (H. Ray) Watson of Shippensburg and two nieces, Abbie and Sydney Watson of Upper Strasburg.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one nephew, Danny Watson.
Private graveside services with military honors conducted by the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 Marching Unit will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
