Billy Steele Alverson, 83, husband of the late Donna Lee Autrey Alverson, passed away, Wednesday, October 18, 2017.
Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late James Cleveland and Clara Belle Tollison Alverson. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from 3M. He was a member of Washington Baptist Church, Lonnie Neeves Sunday school class and the Ornan #69 Masonic Lodge in Fork Shoals.
He is survived by daughter, Saundra Tate (Keith) of Pelzer; son, Michael J. Alverson of Pelzer; brothers, Irving Alverson of Piedmont and Eddie Alverson of Pelzer; sister, Nancy Tollison of Fountain Inn; very special brother-in-law, Robert "Rock" Autrey; grandchildren, April Hoffman and Matthew Tate; six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:00 pm Saturday, October 21, at Washington Baptist Church. The service will follow at 2:00 pm at the church with burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Washington Baptist Church, Special Needs Department, 208 Washington Church Rd., Pelzer, SC 29669.
Special thanks to his dear friend, Judy Garrett, and the staff at both, NHC Mauldin and Richard Campbell VA Nursing Center.
The family is at the home of the daughter, 226 Slatton Shoals Rd., Pelzer.
