(Ret.) LTC Kenneth Preston Worsham passed away at his home. Sam was born in Brady, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Lela Worsham and his son, Timothy. Sam had a master's degree from McMurry College, Abilene, Texas. After spending several years as a high school band director, he entered active duty with the Army, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired from the Army in 1983, returned to Huntsville, and began a second career as a realtor. Sam is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carole, his son Dana and Benjamin and his wife Christy and two grandsons, Eli and Porter. His military awards include the Army Commendation Medal (2 Oak Leaf Clusters), Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Bronze Star (2 Oak Leaf Cluster), Air Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Meritorious Service Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), and Combat Infantry Badge. Visitation will be at Valhalla Funeral Home on Saturday, August 29, 2020 from 3 until 4 PM. The Celebration of Life Service with Full Military Honors will follow led by the Reverend Mac Buttrum. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 607 Airport Rd, Huntsville, Alabama 35802.
