She was born May 11, 1940, in Wise County, VA to the late Fred and Mary Hazel Clark Johnson.
Shirley was a loving and devoted mother and sister. She enjoyed reading, cooking, playing sweepstakes games and was an avid pet lover.
She received her Associates Degree in Business Management from Mountain Empire College in the early seventies.
Shirley worked in Central Supply for Westmoreland Coal Company for many years and later was employed at Don Gray Trucking Company.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ronald C. Johnson and Charles Buddy Johnson, Jr.
Those left to cherish Shirley's memory are her son, Charles M. Bond and wife, Lisa Carter Bond; sister, Carol Rutherford; nieces, Sherry Rutherford, Bobbie Boggs and Keitha Turner; several other nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends Monday, August 31, 2020, from 12:00-12:50 pm in the Fireside Room at Oak Hill Funeral Home.
The Committal Service will follow at 1:00 pm under the main funeral home portico with Pastor Larry Stallard officiating.
Entombment will follow in Mausoleum IV at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to a local animal shelter of the donor's choice.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to Shirley's sister, Carol for her compassionate care and help over the last several years.
