Joyce Arlene Collins was born on June 13, 1942, to the late Quinton and Marcella Jones in Wilmington, Delaware. She peacefully transitioned from labor to rest on August 22, 2020 in the comfort of her home.

Joyce's early education was in the Catholic schools of Wilmington. She later transferred to the public education system, graduating from Howard High School. Shortly afterwards, she began a career at the University of Delaware as an Administrative Clerk. She later met the love of her life, Lawrence J. Collins, and they married in March of 1965. Due to his strong work ethic and ability to be sole provider of the home, Joyce became the ULTIMATE home maker. From their union of love came two sons, Quinton and Anel.

Joyce and Lawrence were inseparable for over 50 years until God called him home in Sept of 2015. Even afterwards, she still spoke of him with love and high regard. Truly they were a match made in heaven. Joyce took great pride in making sure her husband, children and even other children in the neighborhood were well taken care of, making their household a staple in the Eastlawn community. Joyce loved to listen to R&B music. One of her favorite artists was Glady's Knight and the Pips. She also enjoyed pottery, sewing, chit chatting on the phone and most of all, spending time with her family. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and was sure to ask her boys about them often. Joyce was a private yet strong wife, mother, sister and friend. Her happiest days were spent simply being in the presence of her closest relatives. With all sincerity, her presence will be missed and felt by all who loved her.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence James Collins, along with her parents Quinton and Marcella Jones, and siblings Yvonne Jones, Sandra Thomas, Maria Jones, Carolyn Francis, and William Jones. She was the last one standing. Now they're all joyfully reunited together again.

Joyce leaves to cherish her most precious memories; her two sons: Quinton Marcel Collins (Lisa) and Anel Anri Collins (Leonette); four grandchildren, Marti, Quinton Jr., Lawrence, and Jacqueline; one daughter-like niece, Java Jones Keller and a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and her special care giver Vanessa Watson.
