James Robert Park , 82, of Baird passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 5, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bailey Howard Funeral Home in Clyde. A celebration of his life will be Friday, August 6, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Baird. Burial will follow at Ross Cemetery.

Robert was born February 24,1939 in Baird, Texas to Herman and Luna (Watts) Park. He attended Baird Public Schools, graduating in 1957. He was employed by Morris Ready Company prior to joining the U.S. Postal Service. Robert retired from the postal service in 1992, completing 30 years of service. During that time, he also served as Postmaster in Baird and Haskell.

Robert faithfully served First Baptist Church, Baird as deacon and youth Bible teacher. He also served on the Baird ISD school board for nine years, seven years as board president. He serving his community in many ways including serving with Bailey Howard Funeral Home in Clyde.

Robert and Jo Ann (Halford) were married in Vernon, Texas June 15, 1963. They enjoyed 58 wonderful years together.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dale Park.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jo Ann; daughters, Karen Walters, and husband Scott of San Angelo; Sharon Ash of Tye and Brenda Park of Llano. Also surviving him is his son-in-law Andy Ash of Abilene; grandchildren Emily Errington and husband Clayton of Lubbock; Kassi Walters of Lubbock; Gatlin Ash and Shayne Ash, both of Abilene; great-granddaughters Tenley and Aubree Errington and Paisley Ash. Several nieces and nephews also survive him as well as many wonderful, lifetime friends.

Memorials may be given to Big Country Hospice or West Texas Rehabilitation Center.
