Mr. Larry Gene Ross was born in Buckhead, Ga., Morgan County, on October 25, 1947 to the late Ervin Porter Ross, Sr., and Mrs. Annie Maude Mitchell Ross. He was preceded in death by his two brothers Ervin Porter "Foot" Ross, Jr. and Tommie Lee Ross.
He received his education in the public schools of Morgan County. On May 23, 1981 he was united in holy matrimony to Jeanette Colbert.
At an early age in his life he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and joined the Jackson Grove Baptist Church in Madison, Ga. He served on the usher board until his health failed.
He was a devoted family man and hard worker. He grew up as part of the East End Community. He worked as a truck driver for several companies including Dexter Axle, Monticello, Ga, ABF, Sanford Trusses, Purina Feed, and Consolidated Freightways. After retiring from Consolidated Freightways he worked for Bo Wreckers, Madison, Ga.
During his 17 year employment at Consolidated Freightways he was recognized for driving 1,000,000 miles with no accident during the time period of May 26, 1984-April 1, 1994. He was a retiree of Teamsters Local 728.
He enjoyed cooking on the grill, spending time with family, and the sport of drag racing. He was known for always having a smile on his face, and giving nicknames to family members and friends. He was a car enthusiast. He had a passion for wanting his vehicles to be so clean it would shine on a cloudy day. He wanted his vehicles to stand out by adding tinted windows, wheels, stripes, and other car accessories. A couple of his famous sayings were "Getting a car is one thing, and keeping a car is another." & "There is more to a car than just putting gas in it."
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Smyrna Baptist Church, 3800 Greensboro Road, Madison, Georgia, Reverend L.T. Crawford, Eulogist.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
