Frances Lorrine Mitchell, 97, widow of Johnny B. Mitchell and daughter of the late Asberry and Sarah Jane Lawson McCain, was born on November 18, 1922 in Sumter, SC. She departed this life at 9:10 AM. Friday, August 21, 2020 at the home of her daughter, Johnnie E. Sinkler.

Frances received her formal education in the public schools in Wedgefield. She accepted Jesus Christ in her life at an age early age at Orangehill RMUE Church in Wedgefield and married the late Johnny Bennie Mitchell. In that union, three children were born: Herbert Mitchell, the late Robert Mitchell and Johnnie E. Sinkler.

Afterwards, she relocated to New York City, where she worked for many years, but she never forgot to return to South Carolina to check on the well-being of her parents and children, whom she loved dearly. Frances always sought the love of Christ. During her tenure in New York, she joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church and was baptized in the holy water of Christ and became a faithful member. She dedicated her life to many offices in the church such as missionary society, usher board and senior choir.

Frances leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Herbert Mitchell of Sumter; one daughter, Johnny E. Sinkler of Sumter; three grandsons, Herbert (Felicia) Mitchell, Daryl (Debra) Mitchell and James Donniell (Theresa) Sinkler; six great-grandchildren, Lashand Mitchell, Derrick Mitchell, Erica Mitchell, Jonathan (Heidi) Mitchell, Jason Roach and Jamessa Coleman; two great-great-grandchildren, Airyn Coleman and Ella Marie Mitchell; two sisters, Queen Washington of Wedgefield and Janey Jones of Mocksville, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Mitchell, and one granddaughter, Vivian Babalola.

Graveside services: Evergreen Memorial Park, 802 N. Guignard Drive, Sumter, SC 29150.
