Suzanne M. Fisher August 17, 2020 Fulton City School Teacher Suzanne M. Fisher, born September 6, 1948 fought her last courageous battle with cancer on August 17, 2020. Her loving wife Kathleen T. VanBuren, her children and a close friend were by her side.

Suzanne taught at Lanigan Elementary School from 1970-2006. She graduated from Oswego Catholic High in 1966 and SUNY Oswego with her B.S. in Education and M.S. in Science and Reading. Sue was active in the Fulton community, serving on the City-Wide Labor Council, Drug Committee and United Way. Suzanne helped organize the Lee Memorial Nurses' Union and acted as a contract advisor. Within the Fulton School District, Sue developed reading, science, language arts and social studies curriculum, some of which was included in the state curriculum.

Suzanne was Teacher of the Year and nominated for New York State Teacher of the Year. Throughout her career, Suzanne served the Fulton Teachers' Union acting as a Building Representative, Secretary, First Vice President for Negotiations and President. She negotiated the first Employees Assistance Program for the region, instituted a professional development program for teachers and Student Recognition Night. She served as Oswego County Teachers Association President, instructed teachers on accelerated reading techniques, hosted nearly 100 student teachers, led Fulton Bible School, served as a Brownie Leader, Eucharistic Minister, scripture reader and church school teacher. Sue volunteered at Osceola County School for the Arts as a band leader and field trip chaperone. Suzanne loved helping people.

Suzanne considered being a wife, mother and grandmother her greatest accomplishments. She was the proud author of "Letters to My Sick Heart: My Journey Through Cardiac Amyloidosis and Multiple Myeloma".

Suzanne is survived by her parents, Andrew H. and Bessie (Jones) Fisher of Fulton, NY, her wife of 34 years, Kathleen T. VanBuren of Kissimmee, FL, her adoring children, Andrea Spreter (Steven Moffat) of New Orleans,LA, Stafford (Sarah) Spreter of Baldwinsville, NY and Tobias (Kaela) Fletcher of Johnson City, TN, her sweet grandchildren, Morgan and Corrina Moffat, Ty, Wesley and Gianna Spreter, her siblings, Bill (Karen) Fisher, Joanne Smith, Mary (Rod) Hubbard and Liz (Dana) Sorbello, a sisterly cousin, Anna Marie Mooseburger, in-laws, Charles and Gertrude VanBuren, Butch (Sharon) VanBuren, Diane (Dave) Wilson, Chuck (Terry) VanBuren, Lori (Kelly) Kid, Joni, Beth and Lynn VanBuren, Susan (Mike) Locke and framily: Colleen McBride and Peter Chyr, Catherine and Loren Patterson, Cheryl Ebensberger, Rhonda and Darrell Knetchley and Margaret Majlaton. Suzanne was a loving aunt to 28 nieces and nephews, 25 great-nieces and nephews, one great nephew and countless family and friends who she adored.

Sue loved to travel, read and spend time with family and friends. Family, service, equality, responsibility, honesty, God and advocating for a better life for all were Suzanne's credo.

Funeral services will take place at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 26 Willow Drive, Orlando, FL. on Sunday, September 6th at 2pm. The service at the church will be live streamed for those who are unable to attend. The wake will be held at Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 1717 Old Boggy Creek Road, Kissimmee, FL. on September 5th from 6-8pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Foundation Fund for the benefit of the Myeloma Center in memory of Suzanne M. Fisher with honor to Dr. Bart Barlogie.
