Donald Dean Godwin, 91, of Salem, Arkansas passed from this life on Thursday, August 13, 2020 in Salem, Arkansas surrounded by his loving family into the arms of the Lord. Donald was born to the late William Carey Godwin and Arlie (Mooney) Godwin on May 19, 1929 in Peace Valley, Arkansas.

Donald was united in marriage to Eula Mae Smith on March 28, 1952 in Evening Shade, Arkansas and to this union two daughters were born. Donald served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War in communications and in the reserves until 1960. After the war, Donald worked for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas, Alcoa in Wenatchee, Washington, and then moved home to farm. Donald was a member of the Salem First Baptist Church in Salem, Arkansas and spent many days helping to construct the church. Donald loved baseball and played for Arkansas College in Batesville, Arkansas. It was told that he had a good enough arm to kill a bird or squirrel with a rock. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.

Donald is survived by his wife Eula Mae Godwin of Salem, Arkansas; two daughters, Gwenda Godwin (Richard Irby) of Salem, Arkansas and Donna Mae York of Salem, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Haley Lynn Montgomery of Barton Lexa, Arkansas, Zachary Joel Montgomery of Salem, Arkansas, Dusty Layne York (Lyndsay) of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, and Dylan Blaine York of Salem, Arkansas; four great grandchildren, Abby Mae Montgomery, Lucy Ann York, Elsy Mae York, and Tram Dean York; two brothers, Doris Gene Godwin (Helen) of Salem, Arkansas and James Winchester Godwin (Norma Jean) of Ash Flat, Arkansas; special niece, Deborah Kay Hobbs; many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother (John Calvin Godwin), and nephew (James Frank Godwin).

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 16, 2020 at the Salem First Baptist Church in Salem, Arkansas with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Visitation will be 1:30 P.M. until time of service on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at the Salem First Baptist Church. Interment will be Sunday, August 16, 2020 at the Agnos Cemetery in Agnos, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Zachary Joel Montgomery, Dylan Blaine York, Haley Lynn Montgomery, Jimmy Gale Godwin, Dusty Layne York, and Michael Dean Godwin. Honorary pallbearers are Stacey Robbins, James Winchester Godwin, Doris Gene Godwin, and Deborah Kay Hobbs. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
