Andy was born in St. Clair, Michigan on May 9, 1935 to Emil & Agnes (Kreusel) Welser. He graduated from St. Clair High School in 1953 with his future wife, Rose (Huff) Welser, whom he wed on February 27, 1954; together they raised 7 children and 1 granddaughter. Andy had served his Country in The US Army National Guard. He enjoyed family get-togethers, playing cards (i.e., Euchre, Poker), hunting, fishing, being with friends and years of community service.
Andy was a foreman, doing custom drywall for 25+ years, Maintenance Supervisor at Mio AuSable Schools (aka by the students as Papa Smurf), President of Oscoda County Road Commission, Member of the Mio Dummy Club, Member/Usher at St. Mary's Parish in Mio, Fourth Degree Exemplification of the Knights of Columbus, Assistant Chief and Fire Captain at Greenwood Fire Department, Member of Oscoda Council on Aging
Surviving are his children, AJ Welser (Patti Sherwood), Deanna (Jim) Osterland, Martin (Rene) Welser, Chuck Welser, Debbie (John) Berry, Joe Welser, Paul (Connie) Welser and former daughter-in-law, Robin Welser. Their grandchildren, Nick (Kate) Osterland, Josh Osterland, Danielle (Brian, Jr.) Oswald, Michael (Kristen) White, Britney Welser, Jessica Welser (Dagan), Angela (Drew) Havercroft, Adam (Katie) Berry, Daniel Berry, Ashley Welser (Evan), Phillip (Kali-Rae) Welser, Andrea Welser (Dustin Fett). He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Brian Oswald III, Aubrey Oswald, Grayson Oswald, Wesley White, Owen White, Ryleigh Havercroft, Lawson Welser, Skylar Fett and Gabriel Fett. Andy was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Rose M Welser, his parents, Emil & Agnes Welser and siblings, John Basney and Emil Welser.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 10, 2020 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Lashley Funeral Home, Inc, Mio, MI with Funeral Services at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Memorial donations may be made to the Munson Hospice, St. Mary Shrine Restoration, Oscoda County Council on Aging, or the Mio Dummy Club.
