It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Lloyd Pennington announces his passing on August 9th 2020 at the age 83 at his home in Oologah.

Joe is proceeded in death by his parents, Albert Edward Pennington, Georgia Ella Pennington and stepmom, Eula Mae Pennington, first wife Mary Lee Blackwood, half-brother, Nathan Thomas, stepson, Clayton Mark Edward Begley, and great grandson, Lane Sellmeyer Begley.

He is survived by wife Martha Joann Sellmeyer Begley Pennington of the home; children Daryle Curtis Pennington and his wife Delene of Oologah, Dennis Ray Pennington and his wife Connie of Oologah, Donel Dean Pennington and wife Crystal of Claremore, Denise Jolynn Pennington of Collinsville; stepchildren Rhonda Begley, widow of Mark of Oologah, Christopher Neal Begley and wife Beth of Oologah, Jeffrey Sellmeyer Begley of Oologah and Theresia Begley of Oologah. Grandchildren Lonnie and Angie Pennington, Ryan Dean Pennington, Makyla Dawn Pennington, Amelia Rose Pennington and Tim Baldwin, Jerrod Phillips, Jana Phillips, Rian Nichole Begley, Kyleigh and Jared Brewer, Christopher Kole Sellmeyer and Chelsi Begley, Sean and Kayla Ault, Brady Sellmeyer and Gates Begley, and Paden Dooley Begley; great grandchildren JaKaivion Lamar Gable, Freedom Raine Gable, Izsac Nehemiah Baldwin, Shi'Montay Azariah Baldwin, Dahzia Baldwin, Nora Grace Brewer, Lorelai Pearl Marie Brewer, Jared Titus Neal Brewer, Tucker Dean Begley, Dawson Ray Begley, Porter Dawn Begley, Taylor Ault, Katherine Begley, Emmalynn Begley; sister Betty and Frank Hodge; niece Cindi and Jerry Owen; nephews Jim Mizell, and Gregg Mizell.

Born in Memphis Tennessee and raised in Fort Smith, AR. He had one sister Betty and a half-brother Nathan. Joe was an entrepreneur who had a passion for working with is hands and being his own boss. After having 4 children with his first wife, Joe met Martha Joann at a bar named, Lazy-D Bar and Restaurant. They sought out to make a life together blending his children and hers. He managed apartments in Broken Arrow and West Tulsa, owned Tu-Tall Lawn Service, Co-owned The Cathfish Kitchen, Magic Mix Breading and many more. His passion for working coupled with his adventurous spirit lead him to many different careers and hobbies. After retirement Joe continued to keep busy with a passion for wood working.

As Joe aged his faithful partner in crime, Martha was always there. They shared a love of fish and food that often resulted in adventures across many state lines to find that "perfect bite." Their adventures together spanned 48 years, 7 children, 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He is remembered fondly for saying "Nice to make your acquaintance, I'm glad I could make your day and I am And I'm sure the pleasure is all yours."

Respects can be made at the visitation on Sunday, Aug. 16 from 1:30 pm to 6:00 p.m., Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home, Collinsville and when he's laid to rest at the graveside service on Monday, Aug. 17, 10 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery, Oologah.
