Artie Esther Peeler, 101, of McAlester, died Wednesday at a local nursing home. Mrs. Peeler was born July 12, 1897 at Gainesville, Ozark, Missouri, the daughter of Robert Watts and Serenia Elizabeth (Shrum) Watts. She died January 6, 1999. She was married to Frederick Charles Arndt in October, 1915. They had two children, Grace Elizabeth Arndt Page and Carole (Clara) Arndt Collins. She later married Bert Peeler and lived in Modesto, Stanislaus County, California. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Monday at Mills Chapel. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
