4-1-1796 He used snowhsoes to get to his new place of residence in Barton VT. His family & belongings were transported by sled thru unbroken wilderness. Within his lifetime Barton would be transformed from forest to productive farmland and an isolated outpost to bustling stop on rail line.

He was one of the first settlers of Barton, Vt. On Mar 7, 1798 he with others petitioned to have a meeting to organize the town - First town meeting held Mar. 26.
