Waldon George Ackiss was the son of George W. "Georgie" Ackiss and his wife, Myrtle Ann Miller. He was born in Fruitville, Currituck County, North Carolina. He was married to Alta Leona Holmes on January 29, 1972.

Waldon G. Ackiss, 68, of the 400 block of Princess Anne Road, died Feb. 16, 1996, in Virginia Beach.
He was a self-employed farmer and a native of Currituck County, N.C. He was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Alta H. Ackiss; a daughter, Linda Meagher of Virginia Beach; two sons, Steven Ackiss of Virginia Beach and Curtis Ackiss of Elizabeth City, N.C.; a sister, Betty Sue Ackiss of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday by the Rev. Warren H. Wilson in Ackiss Family Cemetery. The family will be at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, today from 6 to 7 p.m. "
