When Colonel Robert Boyd Blair was born in 1683, in Aghadowey, County Londonderry, Ireland, his father, James Blair, was 39 and his mother, Rachel Boyd, was 40. He married Isabella Rankin in 1703, in Aghadowey, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. They were the parents of at least 9 sons and 5 daughters. He lived in Rutland, Worcester, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America in 1719. He died on 14 October 1774, in Worcester, Worcester, Massachusetts Bay Colony, British Colonial America, at the age of 91, and was buried in Worcester Common Burial Ground, Worcester, Worcester, Massachusetts, United States.

He was in Rutland, MA before 1720; Marlborough before 1726 and settled in Worcester, MA after 1726.

Inscription: "In memory of;
How great, how firm, how sacred all appears. How worthy an immortal round of years, Yet all must drop as Autumn's ripest grain, And Earth and Firmament be sought in vain. Who distinguished himself in famous siege of Londonderry AD 1689. In recognition of his services, he was made free of taxation throughout the British Provinces."
