Kenneth G. Perry, age 86, of the rural Pittsburg, IL area, passed away peacefully with his large family by his side, at 11:12 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2020, at his home.

He was born on Wednesday, May 16, 1934, in Goreville, IL, the son of Gus Lee and Velma Vertie (Thornton) Perry.

Kenneth was united in marriage to Alma Lee Walker on Thursday, December 2, 1954, in Corinth, MS, and together they have shared over 65 years of marriage.

His working career the majority of his lifetime was in construction. He helped building several of the large construction projects of the area including the Power Plant at the Lake of Egypt and the Choate Center in Anna, IL. He was a cabinet maker working for the Wilson Cabinet Shop in Harrisburg, IL, and for a private cabinet maker in Peoria, IL. He also custom made sets of cabinets by request for people. He owned and operated for many years his own company called Perry Construction having built and remolded many residential homes throughout the area, especially in the Lake of Egypt area. He was particular to details and was known in the area for his quality craftsmanship.

In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, always putting out a very large garden every year and sharing his produce with others, loved spending time fishing and working on the farm and managing his cattle.

He loved his large family and was always interested in all of their many activities. He looked forward to the many gatherings and treasured the many memories that were created. Now those he leaves behind will cherish the many memories that have been created.

He is survived by his wife, Alma Lee Perry of rural Pittsburg, IL; ten children, Joyce L. and husband, Steve of rural Thompsonville, IL, Deanna G. and husband, Gerald H. of rural Marion, O. L. Perry and wife, S. L. of rural Pittsburg, IL, A. K. Perry and wife, A. K. of Ramsey, IL, N. G. Perry of Carrier Mills, IL, M. Cheryl and husband, Joseph of rural Pittsburg, IL, R. J. Perry and wife, D. L. of Taylor, MI, C. L. Perry and wife, A. L. of rural Pittsburg, IL, Rena L. of Nokomis, IL and Celestia N. and husband, Ryan of rural Johnston City, IL, twenty five grandchildren, a large host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother, J. L. Perry and his wife, M. of Marion; two sisters, Wilma F. of Goreville, IL and June and husband, Frank of Mattoon, IL; sister-in-law, Wilma of Marion, other extended family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four grandchildren, Thomas Eron Smith; twins, Jessica Dianne Perry and Ashley Nichole Perry and Jonathan Gus King; son-in-law, Laverne R. " Wimpy " Bell, Jr.; six sisters, Genevie Hancock, Fronie Wilson, Lorene Jolly, Lois Dean Billingsley, Virgie Billingsley and infant sister, Thelma Marcella Perry and two brothers, Ernest Perry and infant, Baby Boy Perry.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court St., Marion.

DUE TO HEALTH CONCERNS RELATED TO THE COVID-19 VIRUS AND BY THE SIGNING OF EXECUTIVE ORDER BY THE ILLINOIS GOVERNOR, if you are planning on attending the graveside committal service it is suggested you wear a mask and social distance yourself from others.

The graveside committal service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, in Mount Pleasant Poordo Cemetery, located northeast of Marion in the Poordo area.

Those wishing to attend the graveside service should gather at the cemetery prior to 1:00 p.m.

Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Poordo Cemetery.
