You may not have known Christine Lewis Phillips, but she made this world a better place. Christine, 61, of Connelly Springs, passed away on August 17, 2020, at home, peacefully holding her daughter’s hand. She was surrounded by loved ones, after a diagnosis of lung cancer. Christine was tough and fought hard. Her greatest pride and joy came from spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a dedicated employee of Sherrill Furniture, prior to her declination of health. Christine enjoyed birds, dogs, shopping, socializing, cooking and helping anyone she could, in any way she could.
Christine was born on May 26, 1959 in Catawba County, a blessing to the late Carl Lee Lewis and Betty Frances Lewis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jerry and Joe Lewis. What a reunion this must be! Her wings were ready, but our hearts were not.
Those left to cherish her memory are; Love of her life: Ricky Dean Boyles. She passed her tender heart, sense of humor, strength and character to her children, her son, Jerry “Jay” Robert Workman, Jr. (Samantha) and her daughter, Misty Dawn Hight (Josh). Her blood may not run through their veins, but she loved them all the same, step-sons, Joshua Lance Gales (Jessica) and Ricky “Drew” Andrew Boyles (Tenika). She left lots of light in this world, her precious grandchildren, Rileigh, Chloe, Bryson, Preston, Arabelle, Matthew, Laiya, Kayleigh, Maci, Colton and Landon. She wouldn’t have been the beautiful person she was without her siblings, Junior Lewis, Kenneth Lewis, Mary McMahan, Dianna Hull, and many beloved nieces and nephews. We will meet you on the other side of the stars.
A memorial service to celebrate Christine’s life will be held on Friday, August 21, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bennett Funeral Service in Newton, 7878 NC Hwy 16, Newton, NC 28658. Mr. Lathan Peterson will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Service in Newton.
