Jack L. Bartlett, 85, of Sanford, died Monday evening, Dec. 14, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 4, 1930 in North Vernon, Ind., son of the late Russell and Edna (McFadden) Bartlett. He served in the United States Army and Air Force. While in the Air Force he met and married the former Nora Hatton in Warrington, England. Jack had been employed by Lobdell-Emery of Alma, retiring in 1992 after 30 years. After his retirement, Jack worked a number of years at Meridian Outdoor Center. His biggest joys were his grandchildren. Jack belonged to the American Legion, the V.F.W. and was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Sanford.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nora, of Sanford; sister, Nancy Sharp of North Vernon, Ind.; children, Tony (Kathy) Bartlett of Midland, Kathleen (Bernard) Charnoski of Tennessee, Anita (George) Bass of Midland, Lynda (Jeff) Johnson of Kentucky, Helen (Carl) Gibbons, and Colleen (Mark) Bachman, all of Midland; grandchildren, Amy Salfai, Tony Bartlett Jr., Katie McMillan, Dawn Smith, Wendy Cowan, Bernard A. Charnoski Jr., Candy Carroll, Cliffton Bass, Carrie Kern, Kristy Bartlett, Shayne Johnson, Kacee Johnson, Tana Dickson, Candice Gibbons, Kelly Forster, Dawn Scarrett, Matthew Gibbons, Michael Gibbons, Jenna Kravos, Ashley Grant, Jonathon Grant; and 19 great-grandchildren. Jack is also survived by good friends, Clyde Randall, Bobby Randall, Dan Clark, Dave and Polly Hooten, Linda and Harold Stevens; brother-in-law, Richard Hatton; and niece, Suzanne Wolgast. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald Duane; a brother, James Bartlett; sisters, Emma Kreiti and Georgianna Parlo; and good friend, Bob Randall.
The funeral liturgy will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Sanford. Fr. Daniel J. Fox OFM Cap. will officiate. Jack's family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the family of Jack L. Bartlett.
