-Born at Kennedy’s Mill Creek, Old Augusta County (now Rockbridge), a few miles north of Lexington, VA, and was raised at Timber Ridge.
-First Sheriff in the Tennessee Territory at the jail at Ft. Watauga.
-Served as a private under brother-in-law Capt. David McNabb and Col. John Sevier against the redcoats at the Revolutionary War battle of Kings Mountain in 1780, over General Cornwallis’ commander Maj Patrick Ferguson.
-Lived in the Happy Valley, between Powderbranch and Gap Creek.
-Buried in the Central Community cemetery off of Taylortown Road.
