Helen was born November 22nd, 1923 in Wells, MN to parents William and Milla (Brandt) Schumaker. Helen spent many years working at, what she affectionately called, "the chicken plant". After retirement, she kept busy with volunteering at the Senior Nutrition Meals, Meals on Wheels and helping at quilting groups. Helen had a great sense of humor and loved a good practical joke! She loved to make all types of needlecraft projects and enjoyed giving them as gifts. After Helen moved to the Shepherd's Inn, she kept busy with Word Search books, sometimes completing an entire book in just a few days. Helen had a strong love of God and her country. She was a proud member of the Wells American Legion Auxiliary for many years and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her sisters Esther Haugen, Frida (Carroll) Gullord and Gladys Borkowski; sister-in-law Phyllis Schumaker; step-daughter Charlene Harris; and several nieces and nephews
Helen is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles; sisters Lillian Kahler and Eleanora Hahn; brother Melvin Schumaker; sisters-in-law Loretta Gaines, Phyllis Latusek and Elsie White; brothers-in-law Allen Borkowski, Lester Kahler, Alvin Haugen, Melvin Hahn, Wilbert Gaines and Alvin Gaines; and step son-in-law Ray Harris.
