Mark A. Prater, 61, residing in South Bend, IN passed away at 4:10 AM Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Memorial Hospital. Mark was born March 18, 1951 in South Bend to the late Boyd and Charlene (Garber) Prater and has remained a lifelong resident of this area. He attended Riley High School.

On September 3, 1988 in Mishawaka, IN he married Cindy L. (Ballinger) Prater. Mark previously worked at Dick’s Auto Parts for 20 years and then at Curtis Products in South Bend. He was an avid Notre Dame Football fan, enjoyed NASCAR, and loved the music of the Beatles.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy; sons, Kelly Jenkins, Martin Prater, Heath Dingman, and Matthew Prater; grandchildren, Aaron Dingman, Alexandria Dingman, Miera Dingman, and Jamie Prater; and two sisters, Lisa Hull and Patti Prater. His brother, Bruce Prater preceded him in death.

Visitation will be 2-5 PM Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Palmer Funeral Home – River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to Palmer Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses. Online condolences: www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
