DAVIS, MAGGIE ACUFF - age 102, of Maryville, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2001, at her home. Maggie was born May 3, 1899, in Union County, Tenn., and moved to Blount County in 1970. She was of the Baptist faith. Maggie had lived to celebrate 102 years of life. She had five sisters and one brother. She spent her entire life in East Tennessee. She raised a family and operated a country store in Sharps Chapel for forty years. She passed away at her home, where her devoted family had taken care of her until she was called home. Preceded in death by husband, Archie Davis; parents, Charlie and Ida Acuff; daughters, Jessie Messer and Joanne Davis; great-grandson, Davis Archie Berry. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Jessie Davis of Knoxville; daughters and sons-in-law, Twila and Corum Berry of Maryville, and Ella Jean and Bill Coker of Concord; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Special friends, Jean Texlor and Diana Nelson. Funeral service will be 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2001, in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Elder Lawrence Adams and great-grandson Chris Graves officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2001, at Greenwood Cemetery for the interment.
