Daniel Douglas “Danny” Gallagher, 70, passed away at 10:56 am on Friday, August 21, 2020, at St. Louis University Hospital with his family by his side. He was born on June 27, 1950, in Alton, the son of Hugh A. Gallagher of Bethalto and the late Margie June (Bell) Gallagher. He married the former Cheryl Connor on November 2, 1974, in Wood River, and she survives. Other survivors include three sons and daughters in law: Mike and Shelly Connor of Alton, Shawn and Erica Gallagher of St. Charles, Missouri, Douglas and Evrim Gallagher of Wildwood, Missouri, four grandchildren: Trisha Middleton and her husband: Chad, Faith McKaig, Kadence Cox – Gallagher, Angel Gallagher, two great grandchildren: Connor Scott Middleton, Hannah Rose Middleton, three sisters and brothers in law: Sharon and Nelson Nolte of Moro, Vicki and Phil Engelke of Hamel, Diane and Darrell Frey of Midway, a brother and sister in law: Hugh and Paula Gallagher of Pocahontas, Illinois, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
Danny was formerly employed at Olin and was later employed for over fifteen years in security at the Walgreens Warehouse. An avid sports fan, he loved the St. Louis Cardinals, the Chicago Bears, and fishing. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
In addition to his mom, he was preceded in death by two great grandsons: Lucas Matthew Middleton and Caleb Michael Middleton.
Private family services will be held. In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following the services. In accordance with current COVID – 19 restrictions, face masks will be required. Private family inurnment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.
