Howard M. Landis,Sr., 78, passed away September 04, 2007 in Tampa, Florida.

He was the son of the late Caroline R. and Harry C. Landis of Harrisburg.

Although Howard grew up during the Depression, he was blessed with a home where the warmth and love of Jesus Christ was evident and where the will to succeed was deeply implanted in his mind as a young boy.

He graduated from William Penn High School with the Class of 1948.

Howard served in the U.S. Army as part of the Occupation Forces in northern Italy after World War II.

He passed that same faith in Christ to his own family as he and Mary, his beloved wife of fifty-seven years, raised two children. He served God well.

Formerly living in Hummelstown, Howard was an active member of First Assembly of God Church in Harrisburg where he was involved in church leadership and missions projects for many years.

He was a follower of Christ in the workplace as well where he faithfully shared stories of the way his life was changed as a result of is relationship with Jesus.

Howard and Mary enjoyed many years of retirement, traveling throughout the U.S. in their motor home before permanently settling in Tampa two years ago. There they quickly became involved with the Tarpon Springs United Methodist Church, where they found a new church home, which provided many opportunities for making new friends.

He will be missed sorely, but we who are left behind have faith that we shall be reunited with him in the prescence of God in the not-too-distant future. For that, we wait in grateful anticipation.

Howard leaves behind his cherished wife: Mary E. (Martin) Landis; his daughter: Sandi Bongirno and her husband John of Missouri; his son: Howard M. Landis and his wife Faythe of California; his granddaughter: Erin; his grandsons: Justin, Blake, and David; and, his great-granddaughter: Ani Grace.

Funeral Services were held at the First Assembly Church of God, in Harrisburg.

Burial was in Geyer's Church Cemetery, Middletown.
