"JAMES WILLIAM YORK, 65, DIES IN NURSING HOME
James William York, 65, of Lawrenceville, died Saturday at the Shidler Nursing Home, following an illness of several months. He was born Jan. 16, 1895 at Flat Rock, Ill., the son of Elijah York and Victoria Ann McCardle York.
Surviving are his wife Virginia York, four sons Howard of Lawrenceville, Billie of Cedar Lake Ind., Allen and Joe of Lake Ville, Ill., two daughters Mrs. Rosalee Farmer of Cedar Lake, Ind., and Mrs. Ruth Heil of Crown Point, Ind., three sisters, Mrs. Effie Bayes, Robinson, Miss Susan York, Mattoon, Ill., and Mrs. Martha Cruch of Schneider, Ind., two brothers Grant York and Frank York of Hammond, Ind. and thirty-one grandchildren.
Funeral services were held today at 1 p.m. at the Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Wachenschwanz officiating. Burial was made in the City cemetery."
