Mae (Weaver) Howard was born in Jacksonville, North Carolina on March 31, 1930. She was one of seven children, having 4 brothers: John, James, Oliver, and Joe-Wilson, and 2 sisters: Nancy and Cassie who preceded her in death. She played basketball on her high school team and was the first member of her family to go to college, she attended North Carolina’s A&T University. Ms. Howard then went on to work in retail for over 40 years and became an active member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. Upon her membership, Ms. Howard engaged in praise dancing, singing in the choir, and was bestowed the honor becoming a Deaconess to her church. Outside of her many accomplishments both with church service and in her workplace, Ms. Howard went on to marry Fred Howard and sired two sons from this union, Ronald and Frederick. Throughout the many wonderful years as beloved wife, mother, Grandmother, colleague, and friend, she accumulated all the wonderful nicknames, that she loved, that came with it: Mae, Mommy, Grandma, Pumpkin, Aunt Mae, Mrs. Howard, and Deaconess Mae Howard.
Ms. Howard lived a very blessed life and achieved so many goals, she left her legacy to be succeeded by two sons, Ronald and Frederick(Robyn); Three grand children, Tai, Ryan, and Taryn; along with countless cousins, nieces, and nephews.
