Doris May Payne, 87, of Odenton, Maryland, passed away on January 29, 2020 at Forest Haven Nursing Home after a sixteen year long battle with Alzheimers Disease.
Doris was born on April 11, 1932 in Washington, DC and grew up with her family in Blandensburg, Md. She graduated from Bladensburg High School where she played the position of catcher on the softball team. Doris worked at Mifflin McCambridge Co, Hechts Department Store and then settled in her favorite job as a School Bus Driver and Administrative Assistant for Smith Bus Company Anne Arundel County School System, where she worked until her retirement. Her hobbies and interests included; arts and crafts, crocheting, planning parties at work, volunteering as a Cub Scout Den Leader, attending her grandchildren's sporting events and planning fun adventures for her friends, family and especially her Grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.
Doris is survived by her loving son (Lee) Roy Payne Jr, her caring daughter-in-law Lida-M H Payne, her cherished Granddaughter Tiffany E. Curran, her treasured Grandson Ryan C. Payne and their adoring families respectively; Ryan J. Curran and two Great- Grandchildren Declan C. Curran and Silas J. Curran, Amber L Payne and three Great-Grandchildren, Joshua R Payne, Nicholas R Payne and Alivia R Payne.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Hannah Cooper and her sister, Bertha Schwier.
Doris was cremated and her ashes buried at Prospect Cemetery in Mount Airy, Frederick County Maryland on August 12, 2020.
