Essie Gertrude Smith was born August 16, 1930 in Kellyville to the late Britton McKinley and Alice Gertrude (Mahan) Craig. She passed away Monday, August 10, 2020 in Okmulgee at 89 years of age. Essie worked as a Home Health Aide for the State of Oklahoma. She enjoyed sewing, reading and playing Scrabble. She was a member of Second Baptist Church. Essie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alva “Smitty” Smith, a daughter, Joy Fite and nine siblings. Survivors include her son, Britt Smith and wife Pamela, grandchildren, Brian Page and wife Janice, Sharon Page Watkins and husband Greg, Amelia Antwiler, Zachary Smith, and Alan Smith, great grandchildren, Paige, Joshua, Melody, Gabriel, Jeremy, Erica, Marissa, Nathaniel, Isaac, Leann, Kent, Jacob, and Ann, great great grandchildren, Chance, Jackson, Daniel, Wyatt, Luke, Noah, Christian and Angelina and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Lee Witt officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Joshua Page, Brian Page, Alan Smith, Warren Page, Greg Watkins and David Shaw.
