Hans Sorensen Sondergaard, son of Soren and Helene Sondergaard. was born at North Schleswig , Denmark on June 23, 1861 and died at the Buena Vista County Hospital February 29, 1952, where he had been admitted on February 22, having reached the age of 90 years 8 months and 6 days. Hans Sondergaard was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in which he remained steadfast throughout his life. At the age of 21 he came to America by himself. He immediatelv went westward. His first stop in Iowa was at Cedar Falls and after working in various towns he settled in Newell, Iowa . He became a citizen of the United States in th e yea r 1888. On March 16 of the same year he married Marie Christiansen. To them was born one daughterHelene Elizabeth. He spent most of his life in the field of agriculture, retiring at the ag e of 81. He and his daughter, Helene, spent several years at Enumclaw, Wash., and upon their return, made their home with the Larsen Bros., who were his nephews. He is survived by his daughter, Helene Jensen ; two grandsons, Harry of Newell, Clifford of Rembrandt; a granddaughter , Marie Mrs. Gilbert Marten of Iowa Falls; three great-grandchildren, Gregory, Kirby and Dixie Christensen and other relativ s and friends. Attending from out-of-town were Mr. and Mrs. Olsen and Mrs. Wilson of Carroll and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Marten of Iowa Falls.
