Dr. Bill Joe Jackson
March 8, 1928 - August 8, 2020
Bill Jackson age 92, born March 8th 1928 in Delta Missouri and died August 8, 2020. He was a long time resident of Foley, AL. His chosen profession of the ministry allowed him to reside to all parts of the United States as well as time spent in other areas of the world. He graduated Malden High School in 1944 and joined the Navy at the young age of 17. Serving our country for four years in World War II. After serving in the Navy he worked for White Dairy briefly before being called into the ministry.
His college education began at Howard College with a Bachelor’s degree. Earning double Master’s degree at New Orleans Theological Seminary and then earning his Doctorate degree at Luther Rice Seminary all in accordance with church affiliation and service. His ministry spanned for 60 years in many Southern Baptist Churches and even through retirement continued to serve in some capacity for an additional 6 years, being never far from the pulpit.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years Jessie Burnette Jackson, son Mike Jackson (Ann), daughter Gail Coyle, son David Jackson (Melanie), and daughter Julie Irwin (Mark), and one sister Daphne West of Plano Texas. Grandchildren Wendy Aguillon, Mathew Hicks, Jonathan Jackson, Timothy Coyle, Mallory Irwin, four (4) great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by his father Henry Jackson, mother Christine Miller Jackson, and baby brother William Henry “WH” Jackson.
Visitation held August 12, 2020 at 10am at the First Baptist Church Foley Alabama. Services to follow at 11am at the church with interment immediately afterwards at Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley Alabama.
