L. P. Larsen died a t his home three miles west of Newell, Friday evening July 26, 1907, a t 7:30 p. m., aged 53 1 year, 5 mos. and 28 days. Mr. Larsen suffered a stroke of paralysis on July 10. I t was not a very severe stroke and it was hoped that he would recover from it. But the first stroke was followed by a second one and more severe. This, together with other complications caused his death. All that medical skill and the devoted care of his family could do was to make him as comfortable as possible. The end came last Friday evening, when he peacefully passed away. Lars Peter Larsen was born in Lestrup, Sjelland, Denmark, Jan. 28, 1854. He left Denmark with his parents and his brother, H. C. Larsen, in 1870, and settled first at Cedar Falls, Iowa. Mr. Larsen lived at Cedar Falls fourteen years. He came to Newell in 1884. He was married to Miss Christina Christiansen Nov. 21, 1884, on his farm west of town, where he resided until his death. Mr. Larsen was well known and highly esteemed in this community. He was a good citizen aud a kind and accommodating neighbor. We knew him as a loyal friend and patron and a loyal Woodman. In his family he was a 'kind and indulgent husband aud father. It is in this home, which through his industry and good management possessed so many of the temporal blessings of life, that he will be most deeply missed. He was a consistent member of the Danish Lutheran church. He was also a member of the Danish Brotherhood and a member of Kismet Camp No. 447, M. W. A. Mr. Larsen leaves to mourn his loss his wife and two sons, Edward and Harold. The funeral services were held last Sunday, July 28. A large number of neighbors and friends gathered at the home, where a short service was conducted by the pastor, Rev. H. C. Strandskov. C. J. Robinson was funeral director. The floral offerings were very numerous aud beautiful. There were over fifty teams which formed in the procession from the home to the Danish Lutheran church, where the funeral service was held at two o'clock. When the procession left the church for Newell cemetery there were sixty-seven teams in line. After a short service at the cemetery the remains were laid at rest to await the resurrection to eternal life. The relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were Mrs. N. C. Larsen, of Sioux Falls, S. D., and her son, A. P. Larsen, of Norfolk, Neb , who is chief train dispatcher of the Northwestern railroad at that place, both Mrs. H. C. Larsen and Mrs. L. P. Larsen are sisters of Mrs. Hans Sondergaard.
