Matthew Phillips passed away at his home in Marietta August 19, 2020 after a short illness. Matthew was a Marietta native and a 1980 graduate of Marietta High School. He was a United States Army Veteran serving as a Combat Engineer with the Third Armored Division in Europe. He was employed by Lanier Parking Service at Kennestone Hospital.
Matthew was preceded in death by his twin brother Brian Phillips. Survivors include his son Ronald D. Phillips; mother and father Jacquelyn and Ronald D. Phillips; sister Donna Query; sister-in-law, Nongnit Phillips; uncle Gene Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park, 1861 Dallas Road, Marietta with Rev. Tim Childers officiating. Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
