Elsie Mae Stevens Thompson died August 20, 2020 at age 91. She was born to John and Ruby Stevens November 16, 1928. She was the wife of the late James Worth Thompson, Sr. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son James Worth Thompson, Jr., brothers Carl Stevens and Robert Stevens, sisters Catherine Baxley and Irene Croom, grandson Joey Thompson, grandson Philip Transou, and son-in-law Larry Transou.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Transou of Marion, Louise Britt and husband Chip of Oak Island, Faye Aiken and husband Harold of Plantation, FL., Carolyn Hill and husband Henry of Elizabethtown, and Barbara Driggers and husband Bob of Rockingham; grandchildren Roger Britt, III, Les Hill, III, Ben Hill, Lynne Franzeo, James Worth Thompson, III, Chris Aiken, Keith Aiken, Lauren Driggers, Jake Thompson, Jessica Kirwin; great-grandchildren Tyler Hill, Aly Hill, Abby Franzeo, Kena Hill, Maddie Franzeo, Ariana Hill, and Hannah Thompson; sister Johnsie Bryant; brothers John Stevens and Tommy Stevens, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was lovingly known as Miss Elsie and was a homemaker most of her life. After raising her children, she earned a Certified Nurse’s Assistant and worked for a few years at Len-Care in Elizabethtown. She is best known for her loving and patient ways, the love of her husband Worth, her children, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, all their friends, and her countless friends. She was a member of the Elizabethtown Baptist Church.
Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home of Elizabethtown, NC, will be handling arrangements for graveside services on Sunday, August 23rd, at 1:00 pm at Oak Ridge Cemetery, St. Pauls, NC. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband Worth. Rev. Kincy Barrow will officiate.
