Calvin Richard Scott, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 6, 2020. His loving wife, Jackie, was by his side.

Calvin was born March 23, 1931 in Sylvania, Georgia to the late Dewitt (Alex) Scott and Henrietta Elizabeth Kent Scott. He was the sixth of seven children. Calvin attended school in Screven County Georgia, graduating from Screven County Training School. His most memorable experience in high school was participating in oratorical contests during his junior and senior years. He captured first place at both the local and regional levels, and then won second place at the state level. This was when he discovered his love of the spoken word.

Calvin continued on to attend Savannah State University for two years, then served in the US Army for two years during the Korean Conflict. He completed basic training in Camp Chaffee Arkansas, then went on to be stationed in Germany with the 2nd Armed Division. He achieved the rank of Corporal. After receiving his Honorable discharge, Calvin relocated to Boston, Massachusetts where he completed his college education at Boston University graduating with a B.S. in Business Administration with honors in 1958. He went on to have a long and dignified career as a Certified Public Accountant.

On September 26, 1959, Calvin married the love of his life Jacqueline "Jackie" Ward Desmond. Eventually, they moved to Stoughton, Massachusetts, where they lived and raised their family.
He had a passion for reciting poetry, speaking French, researching and documenting family history.

Calvin is survived by his beloved wife Jacqueline Ward (Desmond) Scott. Carrying on his legacy are his three children: Eleanore Michele (Scott) Johnson (Jerome) of Johns Creek, GA, Cahner Stanley Scott of East Warwick, RI, Anika Nainda (Scott) DePina (William) of Stoughton, MA; Six Grandchildren: Jerome Johnson Jr., Jessica Johnson, Kayla Johnson, Alyssa Johnson, Sabreon DePina, Nakai Depina; Two Brothers: Benjamin Franklin Scott (Virginia), Dewey Dewitt Scott (Leola).
