Donald Ervin Davidson, 89, of Greenville, husband of the late JoAnn Newsome Davidson, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, August 19, 2020.

A native of Greenville SC, he was born on March 23, 1931. He was a son of the late Edgar H. Davidson and Rosa Lee Styles Davidson.

Don was drafted into the US Army, when he was a senior at Parker High School in Greenville SC. He proudly served his country in the Korean War where he earned A Purple Heart. He worked as a painter and in textiles until retirement. He was a charter member of Unity Baptist Church in Berea, where he served for many years.

Love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, are all summed up in this man named, Donald Ervin Davidson. He was all the above because he chose to allow God to perfect that within him. He was a loving and guiding father to his two girls, Kathy and Kyia. He loved them and taught them how to live the same attributes that he lived. He was a perfect father-in-law, yes perfect! He helped, taught, and encouraged simply by the way he lived his life before others.

His love for children was evident. His whole face would light up at the sight of any child. He had such joy being a grandfather to six; and a great grandfather to nine. His love for his family is incomparable, and yet there were two loves that were above all. His love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, first and foremost, and then his love for his beloved wife, JoAnn, that passed in 1996.

Don is survived by two daughters, Kathy Davidson Bowers (Richard), and Kyia Davidson Richards (Tommy); six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two sisters.

In addition to his beautiful loving wife, JoAnn, he was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The family appreciates those attending to follow the CDC guidelines on social distancing and wearing a mask. Burial will follow at Graceland West Cemetery.
