Eric John Barnes, 44, of Unadilla, went to be with his Lord unexpectedly on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Wilson Regional Hospital in Binghamton surrounded by his family.

Eric is survived by his parents, Milton Roger and Juanita Joyce Barnes of Unadilla; two brothers: Mark Barnes and his wife, Cathy of Unadilla and Tim Barnes and Jeannette Stevens of Sidney; two sisters: Alison Barnes and her husband, Rick of Unadilla and Lisa (Barnes) French of Unadilla; nieces and nephews: Brett French and his wife, Laura, Donald Wood, II and his wife, Andrea, Michelle Crandall and her husband, Jai, Douglas and Derek Bryden, Sean and Nicole Wood, Chris Barnes, Joseph Ermeti, and Justin and Taylor Barnes; grand-nephew and grand-nieces Jack and Zoe-Beth Crandall and Rhian Gill; close Uncle Andy and Aunt Teri Anderson and their two children, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Eric is also survived by Nick Roe, who Eric considered as his son. Eric's family would also like to acknowledge his close friend and neighbor, Bob Paoletti. Eric truly valued their friendship. Lastly, Eric is survived by his beloved black lab, Jake.

Eric loved life and was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and trapshoot. He was an active member in the Scott Rod and Gun Club in Scott Center, PA. He especially enjoyed his time at hunting camp. Eric also enjoyed family gatherings, especially Christmas Eve at his parents when he delivered the large shrimp platter.

Eric was a Service Supervisor for Carrier Commercial Service. He enjoyed his job and was well-known and respected by his customers and his peers. He was also heavily relied on by family and friends for any repairs or service calls.

Eric was also a past member of the Phelps Hose Company of the Sidney Fire Department for many years. Eric had a quick wit and easy smile. He was loved dearly and will be missed by all.

Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. The family will be in attendance from 6:00-9:00pm. Friends may also call on Wednesday, October 26th at the funeral chapel. The family will be in attendance from 1:00-2:00pm. A memorial service will follow at 2:00pm with Rev. Fred Albrecht, pastor officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Donations in Eric's memory may be made to the Delaware Valley Humane Society, 101 East Main St. Sidney, NY 13838 or to the Phelps Hose Company of the Sidney Fire Department, 72 River St. Sidney.
