Virginia Hartbarger Arnold, age 91 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday morning, August 19, 2020 at her home in Dayton. She was born on October 6, 1928 in Gordon County, GA, the daughter of the late Clyde H. and Sarah Lydia (Hales) Hartbarger. Virginia was also preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Arnold; sister, Marzel Rhoda (Hartbarger) Duncan; brothers, Glen Edward Hartbarger, Charles Howard Hartbarger and Earl Max Hartbarger.
Virginia received her high school diploma in 1946 from Fulton Township High School in Swanton, OH and married James Thomas Arnold in 1954. She was a homemaker and worked for many years at Montgomery Ward as a sales clerk, then at Oster Corp. on the line in the molding department from 1974 until their closing. Virginia enjoyed painting, playing table games and cards, word searches and being around family. She was a member of the South Dayton Family Church of God for the past 46 years. Virginia was devoted first and above all to her Lord and Savior. She loved spending time in God’s house and with her family and was the happiest talking about her Lord!
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Kay (Allen) Hickman of Dayton; her son, Larry Kenneth Arnold of Dayton; five grandchildren, Alissa Knight, April Day, Kristina Centron, Holly Stusek and Shaun Hickman; eight great-grandchildren; Jasmin Knight, Jamison Knight, Rilenn Emler, Malachi Day, Ely Day, Silas Day, Makayla Hickman and Kyler Hickman.
Funeral services for Virginia will be held Saturday morning, August 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the South Dayton Family Church of God with Pastor Lane Davis and Pastor Ben Parrish officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Spring City Memorial Gardens followed by a white dove release. Social distancing is encouraged and MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED.
