OBITUARY

Helen L. Butler

APRIL 25, 1922 AUGUST 18, 2020



On Tuesday, August 18, 2020, Helen L. Butler joined her family in the presence of the Lord at the age of 98. She was born in Morgantown, Mississippi as one of eight children to J. F. Morgan and Lula Williamson Morgan and has remained a lifelong resident of Marion County. Mrs. Butler had a generous heart and dearly enjoyed spending time with and cooking for family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Above all else, she loved God and served the Lord by serving others in her community through her membership in Morgantown Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Butler; a son, Bennie Butler; a grandson, Brent Butler; a granddaughter, Francine Butler; her mother, Lula Morgan; her father, J.F. Morgan; her step-mother, Lena Morgan; a sister, Lexie Smith; and four brothers, Sidney Morgan, Leroy Morgan, Hezzie Morgan, and Ray Morgan. Mrs. Butler is survived by her daughter, Cheri (Doug) Graham; two sisters, Lula B. Lowe and Emmie Beal; five grandchildren, Tamara (Nash) Haleem, Jeffry (Paige) Mills, Davis (Janie) Butler, Brett (Amy) Butler, and Stacey (Red) Cooper; two step-granddaughters, Candy (Dugan) Prater and Kim (Sam) Boroughs; 14 great-grandchildren and 8 step-great-grandchildren. There will be a graveside service for family only and those attending are requested to wear a mask. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Myrtles Nursing Home Activity Center, 1018 Alberta Ave. Columbia, MS 39429 or the Alzheimer's Association at: act.alz.org
