A native of New Orleans and a 50 year resident of Chalmette, St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana until her relocation to Dutchtown, Ascension Parish, Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina. A graduate of McMain High School in New Orleans, Louisiana, she attended Our Lady of Holy Cross College.
A mother, housewife, former teacher at Our Lady of Prompt Succor School in Chalmette, Louisiana, and a retired employee of the U.S. Naval Reserve Support Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
She is survived by her four children, Alvin Paul Perry, Jr. of Dutchtown, Louisiana, Roderick Edler Perry of Alpharetta, Georgia, Richard Butker Perry of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Judy Perry Martinez of New Orleans, Louisiana, and her 11 grandchildren, Also survived by her daughters-in-law, Peggy Messina Perry, Catherine Pellecchia Perry, Lisa Liuzza Perry, and her son-in-law, Rene H. Martinez. Also survived by her sister, Esther Edler Ryan.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alvin Paul Perry, her parents, Isabelle (Bella) Lensmyer Edler and Charles William Edler, her siblings, Helen Estelle Edler, Donice Edler, Charles William Edler, Jr., and Dorothy Edler Bicksler.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 6367 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana, with a Funeral Mass immediately thereafter, followed by interment in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens in Chalmette, Louisiana.
