Ricky D. Stevens, 52, of Columbus died at 12:29 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2007, at Columbus Regional Hospital.


Mr. Stevens had been employed as a dispatcher for Medi-Cab in Columbus for 18 years. Prior to that, he worked at Cummins, Inc. He was a member of Cathedral of Praise Church of God in Columbus and enjoyed gospel music.


The funeral will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon with the Rev. Bob Vance officiating. Calling is from 5 p.m. until time of the service. Cremation is planned, and inurnment will be at a later date at Vernon Cemetery.


Memorials may be made to assist the family with funeral expenses.


Born August 17, 1954, in Seymour, Mr. Stevens was the son of John Wade Stevens of West Virginia and Clara L. Parks Hunsucker of North Vernon.


Surviving with his parents are a son, Uriah (Amy) Stevens of Columbus; a daughter, Angela Stevens of New Hampshire; a brother, Jerry Stevens of North Vernon; sisters, Dela Holley of North Vernon and Nancy Stevens of West Virginia; and five grandchildren


He was preceded in death by his step-father, Dale Hunsucker; and his grandparents.
