Deborah Louise Webb, 67, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 14, 2020 and joined her parents Scotty and Betty White, father-in-law H.B. Webb, sister-in-law Lydia Webb, and triplet grandsons, Parker, Jaxson, and Maddox Powell who preceded her in death. Although she underwent surgery, radiation and chemotherapy treatments, she survived only 11 months after being diagnosed with an incurable Glioblastoma brain tumor in September 2019.
Debbie was born in Cushing, Oklahoma on May 1, 1953 and moved to California with her parents and two younger brothers. She returned to Cushing in 1973 to be with her grandmother Mildred Coy and great grandmother Sally Austin. Debbie met Walter Webb while attending the First Church of God in Cushing. They were married on October 19, 1973 and would have been married 47 years this October. She’s been “Weezie” and “Lewis” to Walter and “Amma” to the rest of the family after grandchildren arrived.
Debbie enjoyed working at several retail shops in downtown Cushing, but her true passion was theatre. She and Carol Cubbage became best friends while managing the Cushing Community Theatre for over 20 years. After performing in a few smaller roles, she took a leap of faith in accepting the lead role in “Mary, Mary.” She went on to direct and perform in other productions, but her favorite role was that of stage manager where she was lovingly known as “Little Hitler.” She also loved to design and build the sets for each production. They built an outdoor cabin in the woods for the set of “Proposals” where the stage looked like a real forest. She painted the Seal of the State of Oklahoma on the set of the Oklahoma Centennial. Her talents were unlimited. She was so proud of the many accomplishments at the theatre. She was a natural artist. She studied interior design during her schooling, which was the perfect transition into the theatre arts. She designed handmade jewelry and also enjoyed painting. Debbie’s love for art and the theatre took her to New York many times. She would spend hours at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and MOMA and stand in line at the ticket outlet to see the most recent plays. Every road trip or vacation would include a stop at a museum or art gallery.
Her grandchildren, Aidric Powell and Kai Webb, were most precious to her. She cared for Kai in her home from his birth for four years until she broke her hip in 2017. Walter and Debbie wanted to be involved and near both grandchildren while they were still young, so they purchased a second house in Little Elm, Texas in 2016, to spend weekends there with Aidric. They moved to Texas in September 2019 after her diagnosis with cancer. She loved her family and her family loved her. Debbie also considered the members of the First Church of God and First United Methodist Church as her extended family. She was loved by the entire community of Cushing and many friends in Texas and around the country. She loved to travel and felt blessed that they had been able to make many trips across the United States, Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, Europe, China, Australia and her most favorite place, Ireland. The many more trips planned have been cut short as she takes her final road trip. As Andrea has posted on Facebook, “Give hugs and kisses to your loved ones today! You never know when you’ll have to say goodbye.”
