David Greer, 84, passed away in McKinney, Texas May 31, 2020. He was born June 22, 1935 in Dallas, Texas to his parents, Wesley and Buna Greer.
He was raised in Pleasant Grove, Texas and attended Pleasant Grove High School, where he lettered in four sports, football, baseball, basketball and track. After high school he played football at Texas A&M University, Tarleton State University and Midwestern State University. On June 9, 1956 he married Peggy Smith whom he met in high school. They were married for 55 years until her death in 2011. They raised a son and daughter, David Jr. and Cindy.
David started at Texas Instruments in February of 1957 and worked there his entire career. He served on the City of Garland Parks and Recreation Board and was instrumental in the development of Garland's local parks. He was very passionate about youth sports and helped coach multiple teams throughout his life. He loved watching his children and grand children compete and play. He spent the latter part of his life actively involved in Flipper Gymnastics.
Preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Greer, sister, Mary Jo Houzvicka, brother-in-law Jerry Houzvicka and nephew Jerry Jr. Houzvicka. Survived by his wife, Bobbie Greer, son, David Greer Jr., daughter, Cindy Gambill, grand children and great grand children.
