Norman R. Bonus, 78, of Round Mountain died at Mercy Medical Center in Redding.

Services will be held at a later date.

Burial will be at Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo.

Born in Montebello, he moved to Shasta County in 1937 from his birthplace.

He was in the the Merchant Marines during World War II and later served two years in the U.S. Army, was a truck driver for various companies and was a member of the Moose Lodge #1006 and the Clampers, both of Redding.

Suvivors include wife Virginia "Sam"; son Gregory Wakefield of Texas; daughter Toni Dallas of Seattle, Washington; stepson Ed Rogers of Iowa; Stepdaughters Debbie Johnson of Bella Vista and Lauire Rogers of Round Mountain; sister Barbara Zidro of Mission Viejo; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild
