Jo Ann Solomon Sexton, age 72 of Gainesville, GA (formerly of Stone Mountain, GA) passed away peacefully on August 15, 2020. She was born in Washington, DC on November 26, 1947. Jo Ann was a 1965 graduate of Grady High School and loved her career as a hairdresser. She retired in 2015 after more than 40 years as a hairdresser. Jo Ann spent most of her career at Macys Hair Salon and JCPenney’s Hair Salon at Northlake Mall in Tucker, GA. Jo Ann was always known for her flamboyant style, cheerful disposition and was never at a loss for words. Her sarcastic wit and love for life was evident to anyone who had the privilege to meet her, even for a few minutes. She loved to cook and would bake a cake “just because”. Jo Ann enjoyed going daily to the Forsyth County Senior Center at Charles Place – she made so many special friends there over the last several years. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Sexton and her brother, Edward Solomon. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Hurlock of Silver Spring, MD, Niece Wendy Barrett (Billy) of Cumming, GA, Niece Susan Bruno (Michael) of Davenport, FL, Nephew Eddie Solomon (Kathy) from High Point, NC, Nephew Robert Solomon (Gina) of Danielsville, GA, Wayne Hurlock (Julie) of Newburgh, IN, Brian Hurlock (Tammy) St. Leonard, MD and Wendy Baker (Justin) of Greenbelt, MD and many great nieces and nephews and a great great niece and nephew. Jo Ann’s life will be celebrated on Sunday, August 30 at Floral Hills Funeral Home / Cemetery (3150 Lawrenceville Highway – Tucker, GA 30084). Visitation will be from 2-3pm and a memorial service at 3pm followed by graveside. THE FUNERAL HOME DOES REQUIRE MASKS AND ASKED THAT WE OBSERVE SOCIAL DISTANCING. The services will be streamed on the Facebook page of Floral Hills Funeral Home. Her family has requested that in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The Forsyth County Senior Center @ Charles Place - 595 Dahlonega Street - Cumming GA 30040 in memory of Jo Ann Sexton.
