Joe Scott Jr. was born on February 19, 1950 to Joseph and Lyndia (Adair) Scott in Stilwell, OK. He passed from this life to his eternal life on August 17, 2020 at the age of 70.

He was an Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War. Joe married his loving wife, Betty Sue Vann on September 12, 1980.

Joe loved to fish and hunt. He planted a garden, not because he loved it, but because he loved his wife Sue. He attended Dahlonegah School, Seneca Indian School, Sequoyah High School, and the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was a fluent Cherokee speaker. He always said, “I am Cherokee Tsi Tsi Le Gi, the last of my kind!”

He was an artist and won many awards for his paintings and carvings. His paintings hang in private collections in the U.S. and even in the Ukraine.

Joe gave is life to the Lord Jesus in September 2013 and was an active member of Cherry Tree Baptist Church.

Proceeding him in death was his father, Joseph Scott; mother Lyndia Adair; brother, Baby Boy Adair, and two sisters, Wanda Nakedhead and Baby Girl Adair.

Joe leaves behind his wife, Betty of the home; four sons, Ricky Scott, Stacy Scott, Solomon Scott and Marco Mendoza all of Stilwell, OK; five daughters, Alison Leigh Scott of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jennifer Hawk of Camden, New Jersey, Adriana Jones of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Evalyn and Karleigh Silva of Stilwell, Oklahoma; three sisters, Linda Waeltz of Decatur, Arkansas, Celia Adair of Stilwell, Oklahoma, and Jessie Shell of Stilwell, Oklahoma; four brothers, Lawrence Scott of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Dusty and wife Ginger, J.B. Feathers, and Roy (Yabba) Feathers of Stilwell, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Olivia Scott of Stilwell, Oklahoma, Abigail Mae Mason and Kodi Hawk Mason of St. Lancaster, New Hampshire; a host of many nieces, nephews and friends are left to mourn his passing.

A viewing will be held Friday, August 21, 2020 from 10am to 11am at Chulio Cemetery in the Cherry Tree Community.

A Graveside Service will be held Friday, August 21, 2020 at 11am at Chulio Cemetery in the Cherry Tree Community.

The family request that anyone who plans on attending to wear a face covering and follow proper social distancing protocol. The family also request that anyone who plans to attend the Graveside Service to bring your own chair.
