Obituary

The family of Henry David Goebel sadly announce his passing on January 27, 2011, at St. Paul's Home in Dauphin, Manitoba. Henry was born and raised in Camper, Manitoba. Born March 19, 1913, Henry received his education at New Hirsch School. His first marriage was to Martha Louise (Brady-Millions) who predeceased him. He farmed most of his life, first in Camper, then in Dauphin from 1963 until he retired. In his younger years, he enjoyed dancing, boxing, playing baseball, hunting and gardening. He raised Hereford cattle and draft horses. His horses, King and Queen were the last draft team in Camper. He married his second wife, Olive Winnifred Ross on October 14, 1979. In 1980, he sold the farm in the Dauphin Plains District, but soon grew tired of retirement, and got a job as a caretaker at the Dauphin Mall for 8 years. When Henry was 80 years old, he trusted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour.

Henry is predeceased by his first wife Martha, and four sisters, Millie, Emma, Molly, and Annie. He is survived by his loving wife Olive; three sons, Ernie (Marlene) of Strathmore, AB, Rob of Dauphin, and Gerald (Eunice) of Portage la Prairie; seven grandchildren, Lyndsay, Kristin, Tyson, Taralyn, Shane, Shantel, and Kimberly Goebel; 3 great-grandchildren, Hayven Brezden, Nikyla Goebel, and Kolby Kuzuchar; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Ashern, Alonsa, Winnipeg and Calgary.

Funeral services for Henry were held Thursday, February 3, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., from the Riverside Evergreen Chapel in Dauphin, MB, with Henryís son, Pastor Gerald Goebel officiating. Henryís granddaughter Lyndsay Goebel was the soloist. Interment will be held at the Riverside Cemetery at a later date. If one wishes, donations can be made in Henryís memory to a charity of one's choice.
